Summary

Kitale Nature Conservancy, is a privately owned nature conservancy standing of over 300 acres of land, It was established in the year 2000.

Our mission was to create a place where different categories of visitors can come for bio-diversity conservation & education, Eco-tourism, leisure and special groups.

Our main visitors are students from all classes that make 80% of our guests. We receive over 100,000 visitors every year.

Bio Diversity

We have the largest indigenous botanical garden in Kenya in terms of plant diversity with over 800 plant species.our plants includes, medicinal species,rare species, endangered species, endemic species, plants with cultural values and biblical plants.

We also have a 2kms nature trail that meanders through a gallery forest, where visitors enjoys breath taking nature walk and picnics,they also learn about river geography, vegetation types, different ecosystems and habitats.

Wildlife

We have over 350 birds species that includes endangered species,migrants and residents.

We are also home to rare Sitatunga antelopes, Debrazzars monkeys, bushbucks, ardvaks, porcupines, foxes , mongooses, otters and forest Cobras.

We also have caged wildlife for education purposes that include: Lions,Leopard, Hyena, Crocodiles, Baboons, Birds and Ostriches.

We are also home to genetically deformed animals for education that includes, hermaphrodites, animals with five and three limbs, cliptochildism etc
